DIOR dresses the Nights – Teatro dell‘Opera di Roma
FRANCECONCERT presents a unique show: Dancing Night and Roman Night, performed by the prestigious Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and dressed by DIOR.
Dancing Night
Choreographed by Giorgio Mancini
Nuit Dansée is choreographed by Georgio Mancini, performed by Eleonora Abbagnato and the dancers of the Rome Opera Ballet. It is set up to Philip Glass’s Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, with costume design by Maria Grazia Chiuri for DIOR.
This fusion of the virtuoso skills of the DIOR ateliers and those of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma is a perfect tribute to American composer. The aim is to maintain a “classical” gesture style, with timeless elegance, while bringing it into a more contemporary context.
Roman Night
Choreographed by Angelin Preljocaj
In the Palazzo Farnese, one of Rome’s most beautiful places, star Eleonora Abbagnato plays the Roman night goddess Nox as she passes through corridors and gardens. As she passes, she awakens the many dukes and other nobels who have inhabited the monument.
Initially a dance film unveiled by DIOR on the occasion of its collaboration with celebrated choreographer Angelin Preljocaj, this choreography brilliantly links body and costume. In a succession of tableaux, dancers from Teatro dell’Opera di Roma interact with the goddess to the music of Franz Schubert. These changes mainly involve formatting the section titles and choreographer names consistently and adding some clarity to the descriptions.
